Kaweah Oaks Preserve – a remnant example of the valley oak woodland that once grew on the floor of the central valley. This preserve shelters a portion of the central valley’s unique and endangered valley oak ecosystem. Visitors can walk along nature trails in a forest of century old oaks, sycamores, cottonwoods, ash trees & other flora which provide habitats for animals and more than 125 species of birds native to the area. Located 3 miles northeast of Exeter on Road 182 north of Highway 198.

D.W. Parkhurst, representing the Southern Pacific Railroad, bought land from John Firebaugh, an early settler and the town of Exeter was born, named after Parkhurst’s native Exeter, England.
